Ambassador Caffery Walmart unveils Pickup Tower for Online Orders

Apr 02, 2018 03:02PM ● By Staff Writer

In the middle of the Walmart along Ambassador Caffery Parkway now stands a 16-feet tall, bright orange machine with the word “Pickup” and the company’s logo, where customers who have shopped online may pick up their online orders.

The pickup tower, which launched Monday, April 2, will serve as the landing dock once local stores receive shipments. Once an associate loads an item into the tower, order recipients can scan the bar code sent to their smartphones at the pickup tower and receive their purchase in under a minute.

The Walmart in Lafayette is one of more than 600 Walmart locations to receive the pickup tower, which was announced to roll out in 100 stores in July 2017.
