Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries (LDWF) recovered the body of a St. Martinville man from an Iberia Parish waterway this afternoon, April 18.

The body of William Londo Jr., 56, was recovered around noon from a borrow pit near Lake Fausse Point about 10 miles north of Charenton.  His body was turned over to the Iberia Parish Coroner’s Office to determine an official cause of death.

According to family of Londo Jr., he left home to go fishing in his small flat fishing vessel around 7:30 a.m. on April 17.  After he didn’t return home from fishing, the family contacted authorities.

LDWF will be the lead investigative agency for this boating fatality.  It is unknown at this time how Londo Jr. entered the water.  His body was found without a personal flotation device.
