UPDATE: Zoosiana - Zoo of Acadiana will reopen TODAY (05/28/2018) from 9 am until 5 pm to the general public after a fire Saturday evening caused a temporary shutdown...

Zoosiana Temporarily Closed Due To Fire

Broussard firefighters responded to a call at Zoosiana (Zoo of Acadiana) Saturday evening around 10:30 p.m.

Broussard Fire Chief, Bryan Champagne told Parish News, “…the fire broke out in the building that houses the Zoo’s train station and concession stand. It was successfully brought under control and later extinguished. Multiple fire agencies, including the Lafayette and Scott fire departments, were called for assistance.”

Champagne says foul play is not suspected, but the fire is under investigation.

No injuries to Zoo animals or personnel were reported.

The zoo is closed today and is expected to remain closed tomorrow (05/28/2018), while damages are being assessed.

We will update this story as more details are made available.
