LUS to Up Renewable Energy Source with Wind Power

During an August meeting of the Lafayette Public Utilities Authority, interim LUS Director Jeff Stewart announced that starting in January, 20 percent of Lafayette Utilities System’s energy will come from Wind-Energy and that the city had entered a two-year contract to buy 50 megawatts of wind energy from an outside source. This addition will bring LUS’s total renewable sources, including Wind and Solar to 31 percent. Stewart also stated that customers’ rates will not increase with the change.
