Deputies Seize Illegal Narcotics Valued at $850,000+

On the morning of September 10, 2018 detectives with the Lafayette Parish Sheriff’s Office were called out to the 300 block of Rue Septembre in Scott to the scene of a shooting investigation which led to the discovery of large quantities of illegal narcotics. Upon arrival, detectives learned the narcotics were in the possession of the victim in that shooting, Jermaine Savoy.
As a result, Savoy was charged with Possession with Intent to Distribute MDMA, Synthetic Marijuana, Crack Cocaine and Promethazine/Codeine, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, Monies Derived from Drug Proceeds, Illegal Carry of a Firearm by a Convicted Felon, Illegal Possession of a Firearm in the Presence of Controlled Dangerous Substances and Controlled Dangerous Substances in the Presence of a Juvenile (7cts).
A second person, Ushema Ryan, is charged with Possession with Intent to Distribute MDMA, Synthetic Marijuana, Crack Cocaine, and Promethazine/Codeine, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, Monies Derived from Drug Proceeds, Illegal Possession of a Firearm in the Presence of Controlled Dangerous Substances and Controlled Dangerous Substances in the Presence of a Juvenile (7cts).
The shooting incident prior to the discovery of the illegal narcotics remains under investigation.
Along with $3,615 in U.S. currency, detectives located, recovered and processed the
following items found within the residence:
Synthetic Marijuana Approx. 17,676.4 grams DEA Street Value: $353,528.00
Crack Cocaine Approx. 8.7 grams DEA Street Value: $870.00
Synthetic Bath Salts Approx. 866.3 grams DEA street value: $173,260.00
MDMA Approx. 9,046 pills DEA Street Value: $271,380.00
Promethazine Syrup Approx. 5,104 ML DEA Street Value: $51,040.00
