UPDATE: Suspect Wanted for Second Degree Murder

UPDATE 01/05/2019: 

On January 5, 2019 the suspect wanted for the Homicide which occurred at a local hotel in the 2100 block of NW Evangeline Thwy. was located and placed under arrest. 27-year-old Nicholas Hebert (B/M) of Lafayette was located through combined efforts between the U.S. Marshals Service Louisiana, the Violent Offenders Task Force and the LPD Special Investigations Unit. Hebert has been taken into custody on the active warrant for Second Degree Murder and was transported to the Lafayette Parish Correctional Center without incident for booking.

Lafayette, La - On January 3, 2019 at approximately 2:15 pm, Lafayette Police responded to shots fired at a local hotel on NW Evangeline Thruway. Officers located one victim suffering from at least one gunshot wound. The victim was transported to a local hospital in critical condition where he later died from his injuries. The victim has been identified as 48-year-old Frederick Richardson (B/M) of Baton Rouge.  

Lafayette Police have identified 27-year-old Nicholas Hebert of Lafayette as the suspect in the shooting. An active warrant for Second Degree Murder has been issued for Hebert, who is considered armed and dangerous.
