Lafayette Mayor-President Joel Robideaux has named Danielle Breaux as permanent Director of LCG’s Development and Planning Department, effective Feb. 18, 2019. Breaux has served as interim director since July 2, 2018.

During the interim period, Breaux has worked with the department in a strategic approach to important objectives such as amending PlanLafayette (Lafayette’s comprehensive plan), implementing development incentives and tackling blight. Under her leadership, the Development and Planning Department continues working toward being customer centric – addressing the needs of both constituents and developers – while managing Lafayette’s continued growth by employing development best practices.

Prior to serving as interim director, Breaux worked for more than 20 years in both the private and public sectors in areas ranging from project management, design, design review, regulatory process management, real estate development, progressive programming, strategic planning and master planning.

“Danielle’s proven abilities and diverse experience make her ideal as the Development and Planning Director,” stated Robideaux. The Department was restructured in 2017 to better align neighborhood and historic preservation efforts, streamline and better enforce regulations, and improve land use planning. “Throughout the last six months, Danielle has worked to map out a plan of action to achieve departmental goals and I am excited to see the continued progress.”

Breaux has worked in many real estate capacities, serving as a key strategist for tactical real estate, developing strategies for large portfolios, and managing regulatory approval processes for large-scale projects with complex historic preservation and development challenges. She is also skilled in facilitating stakeholder discussions to build consensus around competing objectives and has managed projects with significant environmental, historic, transportation, and community impacts for clients including:  U.S. Department of Defense; U.S. Department of Homeland Security; U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs; U.S. General Services Administration; U.S. Patent and Trademark Office; American College of Cardiology; BearingPoint; BHP Billiton; BMC; BP; National Public Radio; Shell Oil Company; Washington Gas; Whitney National Bank; and World Bank.

A native of Lafayette, Breaux is a graduate of Louisiana State University and her technical skills include feasibility analysis, progressive programming, policy review and development, as well as regulatory design reviews for public projects. Robideaux named Breaux as interim director when previous Director Carlee Alm-LaBar departed LCG to pursue interests in the private sector.
