List of Applicants Seeking LPSS Top Spot Shortened to Two

Apr 11, 2019 10:51AM ● By Flint Zerangue, Sr.

The Lafayette Parish School Board narrowed the field of candidates vying for the interim superintendent’s spot at last night's meeting from eight to two. Of the applicants, Irma Trosclair and Bart Thibodeaux were the only applicants to receive votes from board members. Coincidentally, Trosclair and Thibodeaux are both currently employed by LPSS.

Trosclair currently serves as the assistant superintendent for curriculum and instruction at LPSS. Previously, she was the LPSS School Improvement administrator from 2015 to April of 2018. Prior to that, she served two and a half years as principal of South Crowley Elementary School.

Thibodeaux is the current director of special education for LPSS. He was appointed to that position in 2013. Previously, he served as assistant principal at the David Thibodaux STEM Academy.

Trosclair and Thibodeaux will be interviewed by the board in a public meeting on April 24th at 5:30.

The Superintendent’s position is being vacated in May with the retirement of current Superintendent Dr. Donald Aguillard.
