Waitr Cuts Nearly 100 Office and Management Jobs Nationally

Lafayette, LA -- According to multiple sources, Waitr, the Lafayette-based food delivery service laid off nearly 100 employees nationally.

Based on the information obtained, the layoffs were to reduce the number of duplicate office and management positions that were created when Waitr purchased competitor Bite Squad earlier this year for nearly $325 million.

In response, Waitr released the following statement:

As part of the Bite Squad acquisition, there became areas of overlap within the Company. With that, we have made the difficult decision to streamline select parts of the organization through a synergistic reduction; no jobs are being outsourced. We believe this will help maximize efficiencies and is necessary to best position our organization for continued growth and future success. We remain committed to the growth and development of the company in Louisiana, and are focused on strengthening our team in Technology, Customer Success, Sales, and Accounting, among other areas of growth.”

Waitr CEO, Chris Meaux (pictured above) was recently awarded the 2019 Entrepreneur of the Year Award for the Gulf Coast region.
