Lafayette Juvenile Shot

Update: In connection with the juvenile shooting earlier today, a 16-year-old black male has been arrested for Aggravated Battery by Shooting and Illegal Possession of a firearm by a juvenile. The suspect was arrested and transported to the Lafayette Juvenile Detention Center. 


Lafayette Police responded to a possible accidental discharge of a weapon call involving a juvenile around noon Friday in the 200 block of Hammond Road.

According to Lafayette Police Cpl. Bridgette Dugas, when officers arrived, they discovered a female juvenile with a gunshot wound to the wrist. She was transported to a local hospital and is being treated for a non-life threatening injury.

Police are currently investigating the incident and at the time of this report are looking for a male in connection to the shooting.
