Accused Child Rapist Arrested - Identified as Illegal Alien

NEW ORLEANS — The U.S. Marshal’s Service (USMS) and U.S. Border Patrol (USBP) arrested an undocumented accused rapist July 18, who had previously come to the United States on Temporary Protective Status.

Andres Fuentes-Castro, an El Salvadoran citizen, was encountered by U.S. Border Patrol-New Orleans Sector agents in 2007 during a traffic stop in Baton Rouge, but was released due to his protective status. Castro was again arrested July 18 by the U.S. Marshal's Fugitive Task Force, of which a NOLA Sector agent is a member, on three counts of 1st Degree Rape against a child between 2014 and 2016. Shortly after his arrest, it was found that Castro had failed to update his Temporary Protected Status, nor had he returned to his home country once his status expired in 2010.

"The U.S. Marshal's arrest of this illegal alien for the rape of a child showcases the ongoing superlative work done by the New Orleans Marshals in removing a dangerous criminal from our community," said U.S. Border Patrol New Orleans Sector Chief Patrol Agent Gregory Bovino.

The U.S Marshals Service, Middle District of Louisiana developed the information that led to the arrest of Castro by the U.S Marshals Service Task Force, New Orleans.

Castro is currently being held at Orleans Parish Prison until he can be returned to Baton Rouge for trial on charges of 1st Degree Rape and eventual deportation to El Salvador.
