Local Boxing Legend And Coach Beau Williford Dies At 69
Jul 31, 2019 01:32PM ● By News DeskFormer pro boxer and professional trainer Beau Williford died early Wednesday morning at the age of 69.
Williford grew up boxing, winning the North Carolina Golden Gloves championship in 1964. He turned pro in 1968 and once sparred with Muhammad Ali before retiring from professional boxing in 1979.
Shortly after his retirement, Williford moved to Louisiana where he founded the Ragin' Cajun Boxing Club.
A celebration of life ceremony in honor of Williford will take place Saturday (Aug. 3, 2019) at First Baptist Church in Lafayette. Visitation will be from 9 a.m.
