GateHouse, a division of New Media Investment Group is reportedly in the process of purchasing Gannett for roughly $1.4 billion.
Gannett publishes USA TODAY and more than 100 other newspapers in the US, UK, and Guam. The sale includes five Louisiana newspapers - The Daily Advertiser, Daily World-Opelousas, The Town Talk-Alexandria, The News Star-Monroe, The Times-Shreveport.
