Arrest Made in Attempted Murder Case

Lafayette 8/7/19: Cedric James Blackwell (24) of Lafayette was located and apprehended for the shooting that occurred on Paul Breaux Ave. at Cooper Dr. on July 31, 2019 by the United States Marshals Service Violent Offender Task Force with assistance from the Lafayette Police Department  Special Investigations Unit and the Lafayette City Marshals Office. 

Blackwell was arrested and transported to the Lafayette Parish Correctional Center where he was booked on one count of Attempted Second Degree Murder and Possession of a Firearm by Convicted Felon.

The victim in the case has been identified as 35-year-old Lamajor Cormier (B/M) of Lafayette. He remains in a local hospital.

*All suspects are presumed innocent until otherwise proven guilty in a court of law.
