Women Arrested on Terrorism Charges After Incident at LPSS Elementary School

One woman is facing terrorizing charges stemming from an incident which prompted Tuesday’s closure of a Lafayette Parish elementary school.

On August 20, 2019, the Lafayette Parish Sheriff’s Office arrested Raylin James, 28, on a charge of Terrorizing in reference to threats made against specific students at Dr. Raphael A. Baranco Elementary School (formally N.P. Moss Preparatory Academy). The school is scheduled to reopen Wednesday.

James is being held in the Lafayette Parish Correctional Center on a $75,000 bond. She is scheduled to be in court on Thursday.
