Johnston Street Accident Leaves Pedestrian In Critical Condition

Lafayette- Tuesday evening at approximately 7:30 pm, Lafayette Police responded to a vehicle accident involving a pedestrian in the 4500 block of Johnston St. (near Office Depot). 

Upon their arrival, officers discovered a 49-year-old male who had been struck by a vehicle while attempting to cross Johnston Street. The pedestrian was rushed to a local hospital and is currently listed in critical condition. 

According to one witness, "...the impact was so violent, it knocked the shoes off of the pedestrian." 

Impairment is not suspected of the driver of the vehicle, no citations have been issued. 

Circumstances surrounding the accident are being investigated by LPD Traffic Unit and remains on-going.
