17-Year-Old Charged With Negligent Homicide In Death Of 16-Year-Old

Lafayette- On September 1, 2019 at approximately 8:00 pm, Lafayette Police responded to a residence in the 100 block of S. June Dr. in reference to a juvenile being shot. Upon officers arrival, they located a 16-year-old female inside the residence suffering from a gunshot wound. She was transported to a local hospital where she was listed in critical condition. The investigation revealed that a 17-year-old male inside the residence accidentally discharged the weapon striking the victim.
He was charged
with Negligent Injury and transported to the Juvenile Detention Center for
booking.
On September 2nd the 16-year-old female victim was pronounced dead at a local hospital. The suspect’s charge was amended to Negligent Homicide. He remains in custody at the Juvenile Detention Center.
