Coast Guard Prepares Assets for Hurricane Dorian Response

MIAMI — Coast Guard personnel prepare assets for Hurricane Dorian throughout Florida, Monday, in order to respond as needed.

 Crews from Coast Guard Stations Mayport, Port Canaveral, and Ponce De Leon Inlet relocated response boats to a safe haven as part of preparation efforts to Hurricane Dorian. The Coast Guard strategically positions its forces to be clear of the impact of the storm and then immediately reconstitutes those forces to begin rescue operations, and re-opening of critical ports infrastructure.

The Coast Guard strongly urges the maritime community and public to remain vigilant and take the necessary precautions as Hurricane Dorian approaches. The Coast Guard urges citizens to heed evacuation orders and stay off the water until well after the storm passes.

The Coast Guard is supporting the Bahamian National Emergency Management Agency and the Royal Bahamian Defense Force, who are leading the search and rescue efforts in the Bahamas.
