After her debut album “Should Have Known” was released in 2010, Yvette Landry’s career has been on a fast track, performing at countless festivals and venues throughout the world. And now, this beautiful and talented, Grammy-nominated singer, songwriter, and musician is getting some well deserved recognition as she will be inducted into the Louisiana Music Hall of Fame “LIVE” on stage during her Sat., Oct. 12, set at Salle de Danse from 1-2 p.m @ Festivals Acadiens et Créoles - 2019.
Landry will be on stage with her swamp pop band The Jukes, which features Roddie Romero. Swamp pop legend, former inductee and subject of Landry's forthcoming book, Taking the World, By Storm, Warren Storm will also be in the audience. The book and an accompanying album featuring Storm live along with The Jukes and other musicians like Marc Broussard, Sonny Landreth and even John Fogerty are set to be released in mid-October and available during the festival.
Landry's induction into the Hall of Fame is a perfect fit for Festivals Acadiens et Créoles' 2019 theme of celebrating the role of women in Cajun and Creole music. She first played the festival in 2004 with the Lafayette Rhythm Devils and then again in 2005 with Bonsoir, Catin.
“I started out in Cajun music and I'm still playing Cajun music, and one of first festivals I played at as a musician was Festivals Acadiens,” she says. “It's home.” Learn more about Landry’s music and career at yvettelandry.com.
