Arrest Made In Pinhook Shooting, Victim Remains In Critical Condition

Lafayette, LA -- In the early afternoon of Wednesday, October 30, 2019, Lafayette Police responded to a disturbance outside an apartment complex on Merchants Boulevard. Prior to the officer's arrival, a report of shots fired was received, reportedly involving the same individuals in a nearby parking lot on W. Pinhook Road. 

Upon the officer's arrival, a 22-year-old male victim suffering from a gunshot wound was located and transported to a local hospital for treatment. He currently remains in the hospital and is listed in critical condition.  

Although the circumstances surrounding the shooting remain under investigation, 21-year-old Dempsey Jones Jr. of Carencro, turned himself in to authorities Wednesday evening where he was arrested and charged with one count of Attempted 2nd Degree murder. He has since been transported to the Lafayette Parish Correctional Center.
