Lafayette Mayor-President-Elect Josh Guillory has announced his initial details on the new administration’s transition into office, including his Transition Chairman, approach and timeline.
Jim Doré will serve as Chairman of Guillory’s transition team, guiding the efforts to identify and place key personnel for the soon-to-be administration before the January 6 inauguration. With a wealth of professional experience ranging from executive coaching to recruitment and hands-on personnel management, Doré takes the lead role in coordinating details for the transition work and timeline, as well as advising Guillory on the placement of department directors for his administration.
“There’s a lot of work to do in a short period of time, and I don’t take that lightly. With Mr. Doré serving as the Chairman of my transition, I am confident that we will have a very productive and smooth transition to office,” Guillory stated. “I am grateful to have Mr. Doré’s business expertise and experience in identifying talent during this critical time. His role will allow my Administration to hit the ground running come the New Year.”
The immediate task at hand for Guillory is to appoint directors for each department of Lafayette Consolidated Government (LCG) to advance the Administration’s early priorities.
“I was elected to address our infrastructure needs, eliminate the barriers to doing business with LCG, and attract and retain jobs and residents to Lafayette Parish. That’s no small order, and I will ensure that I have the right people in place to make that happen,” Guillory stated.
Under Doré’s leadership, the process of vetting candidates for director positions will begin with the Departments of Community Development, Development and Planning, Parks and Recreation, and Public Works.
“We have some incredible talent within the halls of local government and out in the community. I have some ideas about who will serve in leadership capacities, but I believe that an open call for these roles will leverage the greatest potential of my Administration,” says Guillory.
