DOTD Announces $30 mil In Road And Infrastructure Projects

BATON ROUGE – The Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development (DOTD) announced Wednesday that bidding for 18 new road and infrastructure projects has been met by fourteen contractors presenting the apparent low bids, totaling $30 million.

Of the 18 projects, only two, valued at nearly $1.8mil are slated for the Acadiana area.
   > Lafayette Parish = $1,208,489.02 for milling, patching, overlay, and drainage on LA 343 between LA 342 and U.S. 90. 
   > Iberia Parish = $589,531.20 for drainage improvements on U.S. 90 at Segura Canal.

“Despite continuing funding challenges, 2019 was a productive year with the investments we made in our state’s infrastructure,” said DOTD Secretary Shawn D. Wilson, Ph.D. “We still have a long way to go, though. We’re going to make 2020 even better for our citizens and visitors by continuing to use innovative funding methods to improve our state.”

According to DOTD, the projects and their apparent low bids are as follows:

Bridge Replacement and Repair:
  • Bee Branch Bridge replacement on LA 4 in Bienville Parish: $2,267,500.05
Pavement/ Overlay:
  • Grading, milling, patching, overlay, drainage, and pedestrian/bicyclist improvements on Severn Avenue between Veterans Boulevard and West Esplanade Avenue in Jefferson Parish: $11,590,744.76
  • Milling, patching, paving, and drainage on LA 1253 between Downman Road and I-10 Frontage Road in Orleans Parish: $448,293.76
  • Grading, milling, patching, overlay, and drainage on LA 998 between LA 308 and Union Pacific railroad: $409,669.44
  • Milling, patching, overlay, and drainage on LA 343 between LA 342 and U.S. 90 in Lafayette Parish: $1,208,489.02
  • Milling, patching, overlay, and drainage on LA 608 between LA 887 and north junction of LA 605 in Tensas Parish: $2,771,394.65
  • Milling, patching, and overlay on LA 427 between LA 3064 and Acadian Thruway in East Baton Rouge Parish: $3,783,975.18
  • Milling, patching, overlay, and drainage on LA 30 between LA 74 and Ascension Parish line in Iberville Parish: $1,668,011.37
Congestion Mitigation and Safety:
  • Left turn installation on LA 23 at Gretna Boulevard in Jefferson Parish: $565,162.54
  • Bicycle awareness signage on various routes in Caddo Parish: $72,497.19
  • Signage improvements throughout East Carroll, Jackson, Lincoln, Madison, Morehouse, Ouachita, Richland, Union, and West Carroll parishes: $106,847.50
  • Signage improvements throughout Ascension, Assumption, East Baton Rouge, East Feliciana, Iberville, Pointe Coupee, St. James, West Baton Rouge, and West Feliciana parishes: $83,929.60
  • Signage improvements throughout Livingston, St. Helena, St. John the Baptist, St. Tammany, Tangipahoa, and Washington parishes: $23,740.00
  • Roundabout construction on LA 1026 at Buddy Ellis Road in Livingston Parish: $3,134,000.00
Other:
  • Emergency generator installation at LA 1 Customer Service Center in Lafourche Parish: $146,610.00
  • Sidewalks along LA 10, LA 16, and LA 25 in Washington Parish: $452,593.18
  • Sidewalks and other safety improvements along Church Street and West Franklin Street in Union Parish: $718,535.10
  • Drainage improvements on U.S. 90 at Segura Canal in Iberia Parish: $589,531.20
Construction projects are prioritized by road/bridge condition, urgency of improvements, type/volume of traffic, crash records, unforeseeable emergencies that caused damage, and several other factors, states DOTD.
