Traffic Stop Leads to Narcotic Arrests

Lafayette, La. -- On the early afternoon of January 14, 2020, officers with the Lafayette Police Tactical Narcotics Team (TNT) conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle in the city limits of Lafayette following a traffic violation.

During a search of the vehicle, 15 cases (177 pints) of Promethazine (street value $167,802) and approximately 5 grams of marijuana was located. Arrested were 22-year-old Markise Nettles (B/M) and 26-year-old Deryan Mosley (B/M) both of Mississippi. Nettles was charged with Possession/Sale/Distribution of legend drug, Possession of Schedule I Narcotic and Resisting an Officer. Mosley was charged with Possession/Sale/Distribution of legend drug and traffic violations. Both were booked into the Lafayette Parish Correctional Center.*

TNT was put in place to combat illegal drug activity within the City of Lafayette. The team is made up of highly trained and exceptionally motivated investigators who specialize in reducing drug trafficking or any drug related crimes by enforcing the controlled substance laws of Louisiana. TNT investigators will continue the fight against illegal drug activity in the City of Lafayette to assure a safer environment.
