Lafayette, La (Parish News)  One man was arrested after shots were fired in front of the Parc San Souci stage in downtown Lafayette Saturday as members of the NFAC "Not F**king Around Coalition" were gathering prior to their scheduled march/protest in the Hub City.

Arrested was 26-year-old Terrance R. Jones of Lafayette who has been charged with reckless discharge of a firearm, 3-cts. possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, 1-ct. simple escape (which took place while being booked into the LPSO correctional facility), 1-ct. illegal use of weapons, and 4 cts. CRP ART 575 fugitive (possible flight risk)**.  Jones is scheduled to appear in court on 10/06/2020.

According to multiple eyewitnesses, Jones was attempting to either remove his weapon from his shoulder or adjust the strap on his semi-automatic weapon when it accidentally discharged three rounds.

Organizers and participants of the mostly armed gathering were quickly heard asking all participants to please bring any children to their vehicles and for all armed attendees to please refrain from firing.

Within minutes, authorities had the situation under control and the planned march and protest continued.
