Lafayette Man Arrested for Possession of Child Porn and Sexual Abuse of an Animal

(Lafayette, LA) Louisiana's Attorney General Liz Murrill’s Cyber Crime Unit has arrested a Lafayette man on multiple sex-crime-related charges.

According to the AG's report, 54-year-old Shannon Paul Bellard, a resident of Robley Drive in Lafayette, was arrested in Opelousas for violating:

 > 8 Counts of: Pornography involving juveniles under the age of 13 (Felony) – St. Landry Parish

> 15 Counts of: Sexual Abuse of an Animal (Felony) – St. Landry Parish

> 2 Counts of: Pornography involving juveniles under the age of 13 (Felony) – Lafayette Parish

This arrest resulted from a joint investigation with Attorney General Murrill’s Cyber Crime Unit, Lafayette Parish Sheriff’s Office, St. Landry Parish Sheriff’s Office, and Homeland Security Investigations.

Bellard was originally booked into the St. Landry Parish Jail in late May 2024, then transferred to the Lafayette Parish Correctional Center for the charges he is facing in Lafayette Parish.

The investigation is ongoing.
