Donald Trump announced today that Senator JD Vance of Ohio will be his Vice Presidential running mate for the 2024 election.

JD Vance is a 39-year-old politician, author, and venture capitalist. He became well-known after winning the 2022 Senate election in Ohio, where he defeated Tim Ryan. He is also famous for writing the book “Hillbilly Elegy,” which became a movie on Netflix in 2020.

Vance grew up in Middletown, Ohio. His father left when he was young, and his mother struggled with drug addiction. He spent much of his childhood with his grandmother, who he called Mamaw.

After high school, Vance joined the Marines and served in the Iraq War. He then went to The Ohio State University, where he earned a degree in political science and philosophy. Later, he attended Yale Law School and became a lawyer.

“Hillbilly Elegy,” published in 2016, is about Vance’s life and family. It became a bestseller and was made into a movie in 2020, directed by Ron Howard and starring Amy Adams, Glenn Close, and Gabriel Basso.

In 2022, Vance ran for a Senate seat in Ohio and won. He is married to Usha Vance, and they have three children.
